I love how sweet and candid our family photos turned out. They are very ‘us’. I wanted to have some before Blade gets huge and have a cute photo to make Christmas cards with, of course! I chose an off-beat color palette, my dress served for inspiration there. I hand lettered over the photo on one side and created a leafy ombre pattern with watercolor for the back. I used the Aubergine envelopes from Paper source with a gold paint pen for addressing! The botanical stamps from usps.com are my favorite ever.

Tis the Season! A few festive snaps of holiday decorating around the house!
I love getting a real tree every year and cutting branches off to put in vases around the house. Smells so good in every room.
I didn’t do a ton of decorating because we’ve been renovating the kitchen, started re-doing / fixing the fire place, and trying to clean out for the new year so I wanted to keep things simple (hence why I’m not showing you the full fireplace and stockings because the bottom of the fireplace is currently a disaster and half painted).
And yes, there are 5 stockings…Hunter, myself, and one for each pet. We’re that type. lol. All of which are from Target. I got them last year and much to my delight they had the same ones again this year so I grabbed another for our new (puppy) addition. Must all match, of course.
Pre-decorating mess at the studio aka using everything as props first!
Favorite ornament I picked up this year, a unicorn reindeer from Anthropologie
Sprigs in the kitchen (all hardware and pot holder from Anthropologie)
(brass vase from Target // concrete candle holders old from Anthropologie // brass candle holders are thrift store treasures)
Majority of ornaments: Anthropologie (from over the years!) // Milk & Cookies and Camper Ornament: Land of Nod // Faux Fur tree skirt, stockings, star topper, Blade’s tree hat, and gold bells: Target // Curtains: Urban Outfitters // Gift Wrap: All prints in my shop
Hope you all are enjoying the holiday season!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend!
I’ve been in the holiday spirit early, likely due to decorating the studio to take some of these festive product shots with Blade! I can’t believe Christmas is right around the corner. I tried to refrain from decorating the house until after Thanksgiving so I will certainly be looking forward to getting our tree up this week.
Since it’s cyber Monday,we’re having a big sale in the shop for today only! All stationery is 30% off! Use code ‘CYBER30’ at checkout.

So excited about our holiday gift wrap this year! It’s up in the shop and you can purchase some here (along with more gift wrap prints that could also be used for the holidays!). Some of the gift tags and holiday cards coordinate with the wrap patterns. So fun!

Hope you all are enjoying fall as much as we are over here. It’s been delightfully breezy (for Florida) in the mornings and evenings. It’s been extra nice since we now have this little guy who wants to walk and play outside all day long.
Enjoy my random snaps from the past week at home and in the studio. We took Blade to the pumpkin patch the other night and it was adorable!
Little winter illustrations, just for fun!
Always love the heirloom pumpkins.
A favorite Thanksgiving print (and now a card) in the shop
Blade visiting Camilyn Beth‘s studio. Nicole and Cami made him look extra handsome!
Last week we had to get our house tented for termites. It was such a process to pack up the pets and move them to my parents for the week, arghh! But the positive was getting to leave them there and go home to do a deep cleaning. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten to clean my house without a pet in it (aka more fur dropping as I vacuum, ha). I also did a tiny bit of decorating with these pillows and cute velvet pumpkins from Target. The cable knit pillow is West Elm, graphic one is Target, sequin cat is Pottery Barn Teen, and the skull I got on my trip to Iceland last year 🙂
Have a beautiful weekend!

A few snaps of Christmas around the house. Our tree started out as a boho woodland theme but now I just keep collecting cute animals for it. The ceramic paint tube and paint brush from Anthropologie last year are my favorite though. I picked up a few more from there this year (like the deer below). Less is more for me with Christmas decor, or maybe it’s because I have expensive taste in ornaments. haha. More importantly, Urban Outfitters instagrammed
the above photo of my tree yesterday and I was pretty stoked about it to say the least!
Cable knit stockings from Target, a fresh wreath, and greenery I clipped from the back of the tree for the mantle.
A dream catcher I found at a thrift store
The kitty girls being cozy together (only when it gets chilly in the house)
Hope you are enjoying the holidays and finding some time to relax. Today is my last ‘real’ day for the week and I’m looking forward to sleeping in, gift exchanging, and cooking with my family.

What a busy, amazing month December is turning out to be. I have been hustling to finish client orders, promptly ship holiday items, and get the studio organized for a new exciting year.
A few snaps of life lately…
The beautiful rose garden in Winter Park
A few projects in progress
Celebrated my birthday with a couple nights at Park Plaza, the cutest little hotel in Winter Park. Complete with shopping with my mom. She snuck my floral heart print and had it printed on my birthday cake. So cute.
A few new greetings in progress.
Hope you are enjoying the holiday season.

A few snaps of my holiday items for this year!
Wednesday, October 7th, 2015
October is flying by already and I can already feel the hustle and bustle of fall start to creep in. Florida has been kind to us and we had a little breeze this week, it’s so exciting. I can’t wait to wear boots!
The above photos are a few new things added to the shop lately. My skull print is one of my favorites, originally created for Halloween a few years back. I like to try and decorate for holidays but I don’t always appreciate the colors associated with said holiday so I mostly stick to my muted scheme and make it work – hence the pastel skull and white pumpkins! The vegetable print got added to the shop and I think it’s going to be adorable paired with the already existing fruits and/or herbs. Finally, a few new cards and I am trying to get my Christmas greetings wrapped up here soon! Visit my Etsy here
to shop these items.
We head to New York this weekend for work and play. I’m just excited Hunter was able to get off work and come with me for once. So we booked an extra night to make sure we see all of our favorite NYC humans and of course do a little sightseeing / exploring.
Also, American Horror Story starts tonight with Lady Gaga. I’m dying. Anyone else a big fan? I have a few friends who are fan girls like me so it’s always fun to text on commercials and be like what just happened? haha.
Hope you all are having a lovely week!
Happy Cinco De Mayo!
I’m excited to do a celebrating later tonight, it’s my friends birthday as well (fun birthday to have, right?). The themed food and drinks I keep seeing on Pinterest are mouthwatering to say the least. Definitely looking forward to some fancy, fruity cocktails this evening!
Hand lettering done with gouache paint!

If you’re up for some mad holiday baking this week, I highly recommend this simple and delicious cookie bark. It’s pretty ridiculous and super easy to make!
PEPPERMINT CHOCOLATE BARK COOKIES:
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg yolk
6 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped candy canes or herseys candy cane kisses
2 ounces white chocolate
*Preheat oven to 350. Spray 13 x 9 pan with non stick spray and line with parchment. You’ll be using this as a “handle”. Beat butter in a large bowl until creamy. Gradually beat in sugar. Continue beating until the mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla then egg yolk. Gradually add flour and salt, beating on low just to blend. Drop dough in prepared pan spacing evenly. Use moistened fingertips to press dough evenly along the bottom of the pan. Pierce dough all over with a fork. Bake the cookie base for about 30 minutes, until light golden brown and the sides start coming away from the sides of the pan. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top and let stand until they soften, just a few minutes. Use a spatula to spread the chocolate evenly. Immediately sprinkle chopped candy cane on top. Separately, microwave and stir white chocolate in small bursts until smooth. If it’s too thick add a little vegetable oil. Use a fork to drizzle the white chocolate on top. Cool until white chocolate hardens, about 30 minutes. Using the paper as your handle, remove from pan and place on a cutting board. Using a large knife, cut the bark into irregular shapes or squares if you prefer.

Sugar cookies are the best mainly for decorating purposes. These were really fun to make with my family and bff this past weekend. You can follow this simple sugar cookie recipe here
but the frosting is the key to these so they harden and look pretty to decorate!
2 cups confectioners sugar
1-2 tbsp milk (add more if it is too thick)
1 tbsp light corn syrup
1/4 tsp of lemon extract (you could also do vanilla or almond!)
Cream the first to ingredients together so they become light and fluffy. With a mixer, add the light corn syrup and extract. It should be really smooth and glossy, this is key to hardening after you frost them.

A little last minute Christmas project. I was playing around with some painted poppies the other night when I messed one up and decided to cut it off of my page (don’t ask me why?) ha. Then I thought, how cute would my little painted florals be as gift tags (or even place cards) to top on presents or tie around a bag of baked goods?! Tada! They obviously don’t have to be perfect, even some paint splotches or a stroke of color with hand written names would be a darling addition to any gift. Hope you can use these (and my last post) as inspiration for wrapping the rest of your gifts this weekend. Painting is supposed to be fun, there are no rules or the “right” tools, seriously. Practice and playing is the way to find what works for you, just have fun with it! xx

I get really excited about wrapping presents around the holidays. I like to take the time to make each package look pretty and incorporate some natural elements. I guess my color choice could be more exciting, but I like to keep it simple. I got my wrapping paper from paper source, they have an assortment of colors which is perfect for decorating / DIYing yourself. All my fun ribbons (that I’m clearly obsessed with) come from various Etsy shops. Finally, I just cut some pine sprigs from the back of the tree for toppers. Below is a couple photos from my wrapping post last year. Still natural elements, still loving plain paper. I used rosemary and a variety of ribbon scraps last year.
I’m all about presentation, it’s nice to put extra love and thought into something, when you take time to hand make, hand letter, etc your gift recipients will appreciate. And remember to have fun with it!

A little Monday morning pick-me-up!
A few new prints I added to the shop this weekend. They are available in 8″ x 10″ and 11″ x 14″. I picture these in sets hanging in cute kitchens (that’s what I’m doing with mine at least!). And perfectly sweet gifts for the coffee lover or foodie friend. xx

Whooo! I’m excited to officially be finished with my little Christmas card collection! I have created eight new designs plus listed seven of my all time holiday favorites on Etsy
. All original designs were created with gouache paint. They are then re-printed on thick premium card stock and include white envelopes. I have also been adding some general card sets and new prints that are great for gifts.
There has been a ton of excitement and growth happening with SK illustration lately. This year has been incredible, overwhelming, and filled with so many great projects. After much debate, I’ve decided to close my shop for a little while over Christmas. I realized I need some time to catch up, regroup for an already jam packed new year, and just have some down time with my family. Plus my sister and I are taking a very exciting trip right after Christmas. We are going to Antarctica! So umm yeah…I guess that’s part of the reason for closing the shop for a while. I’ll be just a little out of touch with the world while we’re there. lol. So that being said, you have until December 17th to shop holiday cards, prints, gifts, etc. The shop will close on the 17th, all items will ship the next day in order to make it for Christmas. I will be re-opening the second week of January. So get yo’ shop on while you can!
(p.s. this was a really difficult decision for me to make, I thank you in advance for understanding. I also promise that with this break, I will be returning with LOTS of new items and exciting news!)
y’all are the best. xoxoxox times one million.

Happy Valentines Day. Hope you share it with the one / people who make you the happiest.
Saturday, December 21st, 2013
Signing off for the rest of the year! I’m so excited to spend lots of time with family and friends this coming week. I’m also looking forward to returning to work after the new year, lots of exciting things to come in 2014! I will be back here with a new blog design and portfolio site! I’m so happy to finally feel good about the places I’m sharing my work. I hope to expand on what I share here as well, I’m not a good blogger yet but I’ll get there! I also have some photography
projects in the works that will be up on my photo blog
that I’m just over the moon about. More on all of this soon. For now…
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Wednesday, December 18th, 2013
Here are a few of our Christmas photos this year. I’m obviously behind, so they will probably be more like New Years cards. I’m not so into being in front of the camera, neither is Hunter or Country. So we set up the tripod for a few quick snaps and much to my delight, I loved these few!
What we wore:
Him: Gap Plaid Shirt / H&M pants / Grey Suede Boots from Target
Her: Gap Cable Knit Sweater / Velvet Skirt from Marshalls / Hue Tights / Steven by Steve Madden Pumps
Pup: Forever 21 Buffalo Check Scarf

I love wrapping presents, always have. Making a package look pretty is one of the best parts of gift giving for me. This year I decided to use natural colors and plain, pretty ribbons. I cut some pine off of the back of our Christmas tree and some Rosemary from my moms garden to embellish the tops. I love the thick tan ribbon and am especially obsessed with the velvet ribbon (ordered from Etsy). Aside from that, I purchased everything else at the craft store (Michaels). I can’t wait to give these babies out (very soon in fact!).
Friday, December 6th, 2013
We got our tree up this week! It feels crazy that Christmas is almost here but having the tree and lights on every night has definitely been getting me into the spirit. I decided I wanted to decorate very simple this year. Our tree has white lights and just kraft paper ornaments. I got these at Michaels, they were in the craft section meant to be painted or turned into something more exciting I suppose. I loved them in their natural state and they ended up being under $1 each! I had leftover flowers and greenery from a photo shoot so I made tiny arrangements and added some rosemary and pine (cut from the back of the tree) to spruce up my end tables. Now onto completing the shopping list.

Thanksgiving weekend we camped at Lake Panasoffkee on Hunter’s grandma’s property. It was so much fun to catch up with everyone. Spending chilly nights under the stars, by the fire is the best.
It’s been craziness this week since I got back. I’ve been catching up on editing, painting, enjoying my birthday, and decorating for Christmas in between. Hope everyone had a happy holiday!

We are gearing up for our camping trip this weekend. I’m so excited to get away from technology from a few days and spend time with Hunter and his family around a bon fire. Although I will miss my family and our traditions, it’s fun to switch up sometimes. A much needed little vacation. These photos are so cozy and make me super exciting to be sleeping in the chilly woods all weekend! xox

The Oxford Exchange in Tampa is omg amazing. Sarah
and I were lucky enough to attend an evening holiday event they planned a couple weeks ago. We were given a tour along with some history on the building, what an incredible place with it’s amazing exposed brick and marble patterned floors. There are coffee and tea specialists, a delicious sounding breakfast, brunch, and lunch menu, plus a retail shop with carefully selected product lines. Another plus… you can get married here! Mom and I decided we are going to spend my birthday lunch here next week, I’m really looking forward to going back.
Thanks so much to the Oxford Exchange for having us!
If you are in the area and have yet to check this place out, it’s time.

A few (insta) sneak peeks of a recent project. Winter white and gold for the win. I also shot this get up and will be looking forward to sharing photos very soon!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and I cannot believe it has come up so quickly! These are a few snapshots from the past couples weeks, around the studio and at my mom’s annual open house show. I had some holiday cards and prints out on display there. I had fun making these wild bouquets for the event and enjoyed the cooler air on my parents porch while friends and family mingled with us.
Have you started shopping yet? I guess it is about time for me to start making my gifts-to-buy list!
Monday, November 11th, 2013
I’m so thrilled to have a little holiday collection complete and in the shop this morning! There are 10 new greeting card designs to choose from, a 2014 wall calendar, and some other fun gifty items. I am especially excited about my new products because I have recently switched printers and upgraded to finer papers, I couldn’t be happier with the quality! All designs are printed on a premium, thick matte card stock, scored, and folded to perfection. The sets are packaged in kraft paper stationery boxes and tied up with my favorite black and gold bakers twine. The single cards come in a protective clear sleeve. I used mostly watercolor, gouache, and ink to create the original designs.
I hope you enjoy sending some of these holiday cards to your friends and family this year. If you have questions or custom requests feel free to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org or get in touch through Etsy message. Follow on bloglovin for new updates, products, and special offers through the holidays.

This pumpkin bread recipe was sooo good. I made a few changes to the original, but I think there are probably several types of nuts / chips you could add for your own twist and it would still be perfect. Beware, it makes a few loafs so be ready to share!
You will need:
3 cups white sugar
1 can pumpkin puree
1 cup vegetable oil
2/3 cups water
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (I put more)
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips
1 – 1 1/2 cups walnuts
(of course the last two are optional, I may even try some roasted pumpkin seeds or almonds next time)
1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour your pans!
2. Combine sugar, pumpkin, oil, water, and eggs in a large bowl. Beat until smooth. Blend in flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt. Stir in nuts and chips. Fill your baking cans about 1/2 – 3/4 way full
3. Bake for 45-60 minutes. I would check at around 45 minutes. Insert a knife or toothpick, if it comes out clean then your bread is ready. Cool before removing from pan.

As usual, a few instagram / iphone snaps from my weekend. If you haven’t already noticed, I LOVE Halloween (holidays in general) so this was definitely a fun weekend! We dressed up Friday night for a halloween party, I was a witch and Hunter let me paint his face like a crazy skeleton. Other than the party, we had lots of down time. I was happy to catch up on some work, finish editing lots photos and get some fall baking in.
I also got new custom blinds installed in my office on Saturday, not a very exciting improvement, but a necessary one. Now I get to hunt for some awesome new curtains to jazz the windows up.
This week will be spent gearing up for my mom and I’s annual art show this Friday and Saturday. I have lots of new things for the holidays in progress. I can’t wait until my Christmas collection comes back from the printer…more on that soon!
Friday, November 1st, 2013
I can’t believe today is November 1st. Even though I’m a bit saddened by how fast this year has gone by, I’m thankful that the last three months of the year are filled with fun holidays, cool weather, and lots of family / friend gatherings. The above photos make me extra excited for these things, such a warm and cozy vibe.
Happy Friday xox

all photos by me, see more here
A little round of up of Halloween-ified photos from past shoots and travels.
It’s so much fun to dress up, although the older I get I look forward to seeing the little ones in my life in their costumes and to go trick or treating with them. We are having our “adult” Halloween party tomorrow. Hope everyone enjoys a spooky, fun weekend!
Thursday, October 17th, 2013
Well here we are, half way through October already. I can’t believe it. October is one of my favorite months, I really love halloween and the beginning of crisp mornings. What I love even more is finding “non-traditional” ways to decorate for holidays. I’m obsessed with this black and white approach to halloween. It still has a creepy, dark side but the lack of color feels much more chic. I may have to carry this over to Christmas, with a touch of sparkle of course.

A little mini Halloween collection available as single cards (+ an invitation)
Since I love this month, I’m offering 15% off ALL prints and cards (not just holiday) thru Saturday only. Get ’em while their hot!
Thursday, October 3rd, 2013
I love this month…It brings the first signs of cooler weather and it always feels like a kick off to the holiday season. I’ve started adding some halloween items to my shop, there will be more soon along with Thanksgiving and Christmas. Man this year is flying by!
A few images I found quite inspiring in honor of summer and the fourth…
Hopefully there are other people out there who are just as in shock as I am about it being July already. Seriously, where has this year gone! I’m getting so excited for the work and travels I have planned for fall but it’s always sad to me to feel like the days are going by so quickly. I just want to savor each season and waste no time in between 🙂
I’m looking forward to this week and celebrating the 4th of July. BBQ’s and fireworks are the best. Plus Hunter gets Thursday and Friday off! I’m so looking forward to relaxing which means I need to off my computer and start scrambling!
Happy Monday xx
